To achieve its mission of restoring living resources and habitat, The Campbell Foundation has chosen to emphasize policy, advocacy, and enforcement.

THE CAMPBELL FOUNDATION FUNDS INITIATIVES THAT RESULT IN:

• Closing key watershed strategy gaps: address gaps identified in adopted Bay and Coastal strategies and issues identified by local, state and federal policymakers;

• Transferability: adaptability to other organizations or political jurisdictions;

• Innovation: deployment of new technology, processes or practices that
encourage efficient, economical solutions;

• Permanent change: legislative, legal or policy adoption; or

• Leveraging of resources: expand base of available financial and human
resources.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAMPBELL FOUNDATION:

• Will make multi-year grants when circumstances clearly demonstrate need. Staff support will be considered if accompanied by a strong plan for future self- sustainability;

• Generally, will not fund proposals for on-the-ground restoration or classroom
environmental education

• Would prefer prospective grantees use only regular mail or e-mail in their correspondence with the Foundation. * No Express Mail or currier service

The majority of Campbell Foundation funding will be allocated to grantees solicited by The Campbell Foundation. However, applicants may initiate requests for grant support by completing: “PART 1: Applicant Information and proposal summary” of The Campbell Foundation Application. The Campbell Foundation accepts unsolicited requests on an on-going basis throughout the year. Applications should be sent (via e-mail only) with a cover letter to: Julie Hester (jhester@campbellfoundation.org), for Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bay proposals or Samantha Campbell (scampbell@campbellfoundation.org), for Pacific Region proposals.

If your proposal falls within current Campbell Foundation selection criteria, you will be requested to complete the remaining parts of the Application.

If you do not receive a response within 60 days, please follow-up by e-mail. Please do not phone the office to check on the status of your application.

After familiarizing yourself with our previous grants, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1:

An applicant should initiate contact with The Campbell Foundation by filling out Part I of The Campbell Foundation Grant Application. Please do not initiate contact by telephone. Part I should be sent via e-mail with a cover letter to the appropriate office.

STEP 2:

The Campbell Foundation will attempt to respond to Part I Grant Application requests within 60 days of receipt, by notifying applicants that:

1) Their proposal is being considered and that Part II and Part III of The Campbell Foundation Grant application should be completed and submitted; or

2) Their proposal does not fit within The Campbell Foundation’s current priorities.

STEP 3:

If requested, the applicant should send an electronic version and one hard copy of the complete Grant application (parts I-II) to The Campbell Foundation by regular mail (no FedEx or Express Mail).

STEP 4:

During the grant review process, The Foundation may request additional information or seek clarification of questions. All applicants will be kept informed of the grant review timelines.
